Harp and Harp

Renee + Phil

Our Story

A husband-and-wife duo with an unexpected musical conversation: concert harp and harmonica.

Together, in life and music

Two harps, one sound

Harp and Harp is a unique blend of concert harp and harmonica, playing 12-bar blues, love songs and easy-listening favorites. Phil and Renee started playing as a duo in 2021.

During the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, Phil took up harmonica and immersed himself in the teaching of Dave Barrett. Phil and Renee soon discovered that these two harps sounded great together. They built their repertoire by attending open-mic events around their local Mariposa and Tuolumne County areas.

Phil

A new musical voice

Phil grew up racing flat-track motorcycles. He earned a coveted Black Plate #2 in District 36. His family owned Sand Hill Ranch Motorcycle Park, where Phil designed and built the tracks and managed many of the races and events.

His drive and commitment helped him become proficient on harmonica in a short time. Together, he and Renee found a sound all their own.
